Here's what's new at handle.tools this month. The headline: one search now checks your name on 34 platforms, up from 25, including Snapchat, Discord, Twitch, Kick, Shopify, Substack, Gumroad, Buy Me a Coffee, Bandcamp and Mixcloud. Each of them also has its own dedicated checker page.

Below we walk through every update from the past week or so: the new platforms and what each one is good for, faster results that load the rows you care about first, more careful answers on the tricky platforms, a batch of new free tools, and a refreshed homepage, generator and blog. Every section links straight to the tool, so you can try it as you read.

10 new username checkers

The username checker now covers 34 platforms in one search, and every new platform has its own page with that platform's rules, tips and a live check. They're also in the header's Social check menu, the footer and the HTML sitemap, so they're easy to find again.

The new platforms, each with its own checker page.

Why these ten

We picked platforms where people genuinely care about getting their exact name, and where we can give an honest answer. Snapchat and Discord are two of the most searched name checks anywhere. Twitch and Kick matter to anyone streaming. Shopify, Substack, Gumroad and Buy Me a Coffee are where creators and small businesses make money, and Bandcamp and Mixcloud are home turf for musicians and DJs.

What we still can't check

Some popular names live behind a login. Xbox gamertags and PlayStation online IDs can only be looked up from a signed-in account, so we haven't added them. Reddit stays 'coming soon' for now. We'd rather leave a platform out than show you a guess dressed up as an answer.

Gaming names: Discord, Twitch and Kick

Gamers asked for this more than anything, and it's now one search: your name on Discord, Twitch, Kick, Steam, Roblox and Minecraft side by side, plus YouTube and TikTok for clips.

Discord usernames

Since Discord dropped the old name#1234 tags, every username is unique, and short ones vanished quickly. The Discord username checker tells you straight away whether a name is free, without logging in or adding a bot. If your first pick has gone, the Discord username generator gives you a shortlist to try next.

Twitch and Kick channel names

On both platforms your username is your channel address, so it's on your overlays, clips and socials. The Twitch username checker and the Kick username checker show whether a channel already uses the name. Banned channels keep their names on both, so we show those as taken, and for very short or common Twitch names we say 'Likely taken' rather than promise a name Twitch won't release.

Creator and store names: Shopify, Substack, Gumroad and Buy Me a Coffee

If you sell, write or take tips online, your name is part of every link you share. Four new checkers cover the platforms creators and small businesses use most.

Shopify store names

The Shopify store name checker looks at yourname.myshopify.com. One detail most tools miss: a closed or paused Shopify store keeps its address, so a name can be taken even when there's no store to visit. We count those as taken, so you don't plan a brand around an address you can't have.

Substack, Gumroad and Buy Me a Coffee

For all four, the domain matters as much as the platform name. Every search also checks the .com and 14 other extensions, and the brand name generator suggests names with a free .com when your first choice is gone.

Music names: Bandcamp and Mixcloud

SoundCloud was already in the list. Now the Bandcamp name checker and the Mixcloud username checker join it, so a band, label or DJ can check every music profile in one go.

Bandcamp addresses can't contain spaces, so a band called The Night Owls has to choose between thenightowls and the-night-owls. Check both and pick the version that's also free on Instagram.

Faster results: the rows you care about load first

With 34 platforms, waiting for every answer before showing anything would have made the results page feel slow. So results now stream in: each row appears the moment its answer is ready, and the first ten platforms on your screen are checked first.

Your platform goes to the top

If you arrive from a platform's checker page, say the Roblox username checker, that platform is checked first and shown at the top, followed by the platforms that usually go with it (Twitch, Kick, Discord, Steam for gamers; Bandcamp and Mixcloud for musicians). Everything else follows in the usual order.

A shorter list, one tap to see everything

  • Desktop: the first 22 platforms show, with a 'Show all' link for the rest.
  • Phones: the first 8 show, so the domain results are a short scroll away.
  • Leaving early: if you move on before a search finishes, the remaining checks stop too.

More careful answers on the tricky platforms

Some platforms don't make it easy to tell 'free' from 'hidden'. We'd rather tell you a name is probably taken than send you to sign up for something you can't have. Here's how the trickiest ones now read.

PlatformWhat changedWhat you'll see
X (Twitter)X results are now liveTaken, Available, or Likely taken for short and common names
InstagramResults are double-checked before we show themFar fewer wrong answers; a brief 'Checking…' while we confirm
SnapchatNew, with the same care for hidden accountsLikely taken for short and common names
ShopifyClosed and paused stores count as takenTaken, even when no store is visible
TwitchBanned names aren't releasedLikely taken for short and common names

Want the details on what each result means, and the known limits? The How we check page explains it in plain English, and the username character limits page lists every platform's rules in one table, now including all ten new platforms.

New free tools from the past week

Alongside the new checkers, a batch of free tools landed. Most run entirely in your browser, so they're instant and nothing you type is stored.

A new homepage, generator and blog

The homepage

The homepage has been rebuilt around what people actually come for: one search box, a 'Who it's for' section with tailored checks for creators, gamers, developers, musicians and businesses, and a tool library with every free tool in one filterable list.

The username generator

The username generator now has 60 styles with a searchable style picker, a swipe view for phones, a shortlist you can send to the bulk username checker to compare, and a free .com badge on every idea.

The blog

The blog is new too, with practical guides such as how to change your username, how to get the same username on every platform and what OG usernames are. New posts go up most days.

Conclusion

Recap

That's what's new at handle.tools for November 2026: ten new checkers (Snapchat, Discord, Twitch, Kick, Shopify, Substack, Gumroad, Buy Me a Coffee, Bandcamp and Mixcloud), results that stream in with your platform first, more careful answers on the hard-to-read platforms, and a set of new free tools.

Final thoughts

The quickest way to see it all is to run your own name through the username checker. If it's taken somewhere that matters, try the username generator, compare a shortlist with bulk username search, and check the domain in domain name search. We'll post the next round of updates here on the blog.

Frequently asked questions

What's new at handle.tools?

This month: ten new username checkers including Snapchat, Discord, Twitch and Kick, results that stream in with your platform first, and new free tools like the bio generator and domain expiration checker.

How many platforms does handle.tools check now?

34 social platforms in one search, 33 of them live (Reddit is coming soon), plus 15 domain extensions. The domain name search covers 150+ extensions.

Can I check a Discord username without logging in?

Yes. The Discord username checker tells you whether a username is free with no login, bot or server needed.

Can handle.tools check Xbox gamertags or PSN names?

Not yet. Both are only visible to signed-in accounts, so there's no honest way to check them publicly. Discord, Twitch, Kick, Steam, Roblox and Minecraft are all checked live.

Why does a Shopify name show as taken when I can't find the store?

Closed and paused Shopify stores keep their myshopify.com address, so the name can't be reused even though there's nothing to visit. The Shopify store name checker counts those as taken.

Why do some results say 'Likely taken'?

On Snapchat, X and Twitch, deleted, banned and hidden accounts look the same as free names from the outside. For short or common names, which are almost always held, we say 'Likely taken' rather than promise a name you can't claim.

Are the new checkers free?

Yes. Every checker, generator and free tool on handle.tools works without an account.

Where can I see every platform's username rules?

The username character limits page lists length and character rules for every platform we check, including the ten new ones, with a tester to try your name.
